Last Sunday was the 2011 edition of Merrell Down & Dirty 10K Mud Run at Farirmount Park on the Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. This year the race was presented by Subaru. The race promoters boasted 6000 racers on the trails and in the mud. The race results had slightly over 4600 racers finishing in three different races; a Kids 1 Mile, a 5K and a 10K. Here are two, upcoming adventrue/obstacle race events that I plan on photographing.

The first is on Saturday, 7/9/2011, in New Jersey at Raceway Park in Englishtown. It is called “Rugged Maniac” and it is a 5K run designed by Navy Seals. The second is the Merrell Down & Dirty 5k & 10K Mud Run in Philadelphia, PA at Fairmount Park on Sunday, 7/17/2011. The Merrell Down & Dirty website is located here Mud Run.

Both races are packed with military style obstacles, including a fire pit in the Rugged Maniac race and both races support various charities.

I photographed at the Merrell run last year and got some pretty good photos ( Mud Run Photos ). This year promises to be even better.
