Last evening I had the great fortune to win a couple awards in the Harrisburg Camera Club’s Printed Image Competitions. I received a 1st Place Award in the monochrome category and a 3rd Place Award in the color category. This was the first of the printed image competitions for the 2016-2017 season and the turnout was good.
Aboard the SS Columbia #1
Aboard the SS Columbia received a score of 55 out of 60 in the monochrome category. As the name suggests, I made it on the SS Columbia. The SS Columbia the oldest remaining excursion steamship in the United States. This image was also accepted into the Olympus InVision 2016 PA Photographers Exhibition. It is currently on display in Bethlehem, at the Banana Factory’s Crayola Gallery. This show runs until January, 8, 2017 therefore, if you are in Bethlehem you should stop in and view the exhibition.
Khazad Dum received a score of 54 out of 60 in the color category. This image is from the Cargill-Superior Grain Elevator along the Buffalo River. Khazad Dum is a reference to J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The Dwarvish community delved deep under the mountains known as “Moria”. Moria’s first name was Khazad Dum. This is a composite, high dynamic range image constructed from thirty-five (35) separate images.
A big thank you to the Harrisburg Camera Club for providing this opportunity and to judges, Mike Donovan and Don Giles for their positive critique and engaging enthusiasm.
